#23: How to Be a Great Leader with Former Marine Sniper and Co-Founder of Team Rubicon, Jake Wood
Jake Wood is a former Marine Sniper, and the CEO & Co-founder of Team Rubicon. His organization brings in highly trained military veterans as first-responders to crises around the world, such as devastating earthquakes, floods or wildfires. Not only does the organization brilliantly reintegrate veterans into civilian life, providing them with community, camaraderie, and purpose, but it also brings some of the best performers and leaders from the military to the places that need them most.
Prior to Team Rubicon, Jake served for four years in the United States Marine Corps and graduated top of his class at Boot Camp, the School of Infantry, and the Marine Scout Sniper School. During his service, Jake was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan, and earned numerous commendations, including the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor distinguishing device. Jake’s book, Take Command, shows how to apply hard-learned lessons in leadership and teamwork, whether you’re on the battlefield or in the office.
Jake sat down with the IVY community and shared powerful insights on how to lead, under even the most trying circumstances.
