Jamie Metzl is a man of many titles and distinctions: he is a novelist, blogger, futurist, member of the Council on Foreign Relations and former White House and Aspen Institute Crown Fellow, with a Ph.D. in Asian history from Oxford, a JD from Harvard Law School, and a magna cum laude Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University. As an expert in geopolitics and biotechnology who currently serves as a Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council, Jamie’s syndicated columns and regular television appearances have been fixtures of the international conversation about Asian economic and political issues. Jamie has also authored multiple novels, including The Depths of The Sea and Genesis Code, which deal with issues of human genetic enhancement in the context of a future US-China rivalry. His new novel, Eternal Sonata, explores issues relating to extreme human life extension. Dr. Richard K. Betts, has a resume that few can equal. He currently serves as the Director of the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies and as the Director of the International Security Policy program at Columbia University, and he previously served as a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute and as Director of National Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he advised three Directors of Central Intelligence and two Directors of the CIA. Dr. Betts is also a prolific author, co-author and editor of over 11 books and textbooks, the latest of which are: Enemies of Intelligence and American Force. He has also published numerous articles on foreign policy, for which he has numerous prestigious awards, including the Woodrow Wilson Award of the American Political Science Association for the best book in political science. He also received the International Studies Association’s ISSS Distinguished Scholar Award in 2005 and MIT’s Doolittle Award in 2012. After years of searching for quality cosmetics at an affordable price, 25-year-old Toni Ko set out to disrupt the cosmetic industry by providing department store beauty at drugstore prices. She founded NYX Cosmetics, which went on to do $4 million in retail sales in its first year, and ultimately sold to L’Orèal in 2014 for a reported $500 million dollars. As a serial entrepreneur, Ms. Ko quickly moved on to her next endeavor, Perverse Sunglasses. In Spring 2016, Ko launched the affordable yet highly fashionable eyewear brand, which is poised to disrupt the market just like her last venture.
